Yesterday, Victoria’s Secret announced that Cher will be leading the line-up for its first fashion show since 2018. In the post, they also confirmed that this year’s performance bill will mark the fashion show’s first-ever all-women line-up.
Other acts have yet to be announced, but will be revealed in the lead up to the October 15 event. Victoria’s Secret wrote on Instagram announcing Cher’s performance: “It’s a woman’s world, so it’s understood that you can’t have a fashion show without the mother of fashion herself — @Cher! We’re beyond excited to announce she will officially be performing at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2024 on October 15.”
The post continued: “But she won’t be alone… stay tuned, more announcements are coming to round out our first-ever, all-women lineup.”
Performers at past Victoria’s Secret fashion shows include Mary J. Blige, Destiny’s Child, Spice Girls, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Sting, Seal, Taylor Swift, Fall Out Boy, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, Harry Styles, The Chainsmokers, Halsey, Rita Ora and more.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Cher had dropped her bid for legal control over her youngest son Elijah Blue Allman’s personal and financial affairs. He had been set to receive assets from a trust set up by his late father, who died in 2017, but documents filed by Cher’s lawyers said she was concerned that “any funds distributed to Elijah will be immediately spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself and putting Elijah’s life at risk”.
Cher had filed two temporary conservatorship requests but both were denied in January. It was later reported in April that Allman had filed an objection to Cher’s request, in which he stated that he felt he was not only not in need of a conservatorship, but also believed his mother would be “unfit to serve”. They have since reached a private settlement.
In other news, Cher is reportedly “in talks” to take on the legends slot at the 2025 edition of Glastonbury. According to reports, the ‘Believe’ hitmaker is said to be in “meaningful talks” with the event organisers and is already planning to fit the festival around some plans for some headline shows in the UK.
The star, who released a Christmas album in 2023, is set to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame this year alongside the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Mary J. Blige, Foreigner and Kool & The Gang.
