Dave Navarro shouts out “fucking punk rock” fan who wore Taylor Swift t-shirt to Jane’s Addiction show
Dave Navarro has called a fan wearing a Taylor Swift shirt to a Jane’s Addiction show “fucking punk rock”.
The guitarist resposted an old clip from an August 29 show played in Tampa, Florida, where Jane’s Addiction performed at the MidFlorida Credit Union Ampitheatre.
In the clip, Navarro kneels down to peer at an gig-goer’s shirt, which quotes Swift’s 2014 hit ‘Blank Space’ on its back: “So it’s gonna be forever / Or it’s gonna go down in flames“.
Navarro then tells the Swiftie: “I apprerciate that you don’t give a fuck and wore a Taylor Swift shirt to our show”.
He doubled down on the sentiment in the caption on his Instagram: “The whole time I was thinking, “How is this guy wearing a Taylor Swift shirt to a Jane’s show?” Then, I was like, “Fuck it, be who you are!
“Fucking punk rock, brother!”
Jane’s Addiction recently made headlines when singer Perry Farrell and Navarro fought on stage during a show.
In video footage taken by fans, Farrell appeared to start the fight by attempting to punch Navarro. The fight was quickly broken up and the lights went down following the scuffle.
The band would later go on to apologise to fans, cancel the remainder of their US tour dates and announce a hiatus, with Navarro suggesting the band may have come to a close.
Meanwhile, Farrell’s wife Etty posted a statement on Instagram saying the singer was taking time to “reflect and heal”.
“We are taking a bit of time to ourselves, to reflect and to heal,” she wrote. “Perry already has appointments with a otolaryngologist and a neurologist.”
Etty also dismissed rumours about Perry’s alleged drunkenness as a contributing factor to the onstage tensions adding: “If you know and love Perry well, you know there’s no need for me to address the other false narratives. Our souls know.”
Elsewhere, Jane’s Addiction have quietly shared their new single ‘True Love’ – a track that they debuted at an intimate show at London’s Bush Hall earlier this year. The single follows ‘Imminent Redemption, their first new music together in 34 years.
