David Lynch might be releasing a new project next month
David Lynch looks set to release a new project soon, according to a post the Twin Peaks creator has shared online.
Lynch hadn’t posted on his social media accounts since December 2022, but took to X/Twitter last Saturday (May 25) to share news of the mysterious new project.
“Ladies and gentleman, something is coming along….for you to see and hear,” Lynch said in a 22-second video. “And it will be coming along on June 5.”
The show returned for a third season in 2017, 26 years after the finale of the second season. Fans were faced with a huge cliffhanger at the end of last year’s episodes, so have been hoping for a fourth season ever since.
Lynch hasn’t completely ruled out another season, and Showtime made it clear that they would be keen to screen more episodes. The show’s star Kyle MacLachlan has also said that a fourth season of the cult TV show is “certainly possible”.

In other news, a half-written script for Lynch’s Dune sequel was found earlier this year, teasing what could have been had the director’s plans for a trilogy come to fruition.
Max Evry, the author of A Masterpiece in Disarray: David Lynch’s Dune. An Oral History, unearthed the script in July 2023 while working on his book, finding it in Frank Herbert’s (the author of Dune and its five sequels) archives at California State University, Fullerton.
In an article for WIRED, Evry spoke highly of Lynch’s script, saying: “He also cracked a way to tell the complex story of Herbert’s 1969 novel Dune Messiah, easily the least cinematic book in the series.”
He added: “It may ring of sacrilege to some, but Lynch’s Dune II would have bested Herbert’s book — and been one hell of a movie
Evry noted various intriguing details about the script, including how it opened with a new set of scenes that don’t feature in Herbert’s novel, picking up in the aftermath of the Harkonnen’s attack on Arrakeen that saw Duncan Idaho (Richard Jordan) killed in action.
In a statement through his assistant, Lynch said that he “sort of remembers writing something but doesn’t recall ever finishing it”. However, since the director views his Dune movie as a “failure in his eyes and not a particular time he likes to think or talk about”, he declined to comment further on the unearthed script.
