DDG Defends Halle Bailey After Her Criticism of Having Their Son on Kai Cenat’s Stream
DDG has come to Halle Bailey’s defense after she initially criticized his decision to bring their son, Halo, on Kai Cenat’s livestream earlier this week.
The rapper hopped on YouTube to release a video on Thursday (Nov. 7), in which he blasted those attempting to bash Bailey and explained why there could be other factors at play that make him show grace.
“She could be going through something mentally after having a kid that I can’t understand as a man,” he said. “So when situations like this happen, I try to handle it with as much grace as possible because Halo needs her. I need her. We need each other to try to create a childhood that’s safe, fun and memorable for him.”
DDG continued: “Y’all could hate on me for as long as y’all want, but leave Halle alone, man. Mentally, y’all don’t know what she going through when it comes to postpartum. She just pushed a whole human out. She dealing with a whole new life. She has to always consider Halo in every situation … My skin is just overly thick when it comes to online backlash, but I know for her it’s something very, very new and I’m just asking y’all to chill.”
DDG brought his and Halle’s son, Halo, onto Kai Cenat’s stream on Wednesday night (Nov. 6), which Bailey initially said in a deleted tweet made her “extremely upset,” and she claimed to not have approved of having their baby in front of millions of virtual eyeballs.
“Hi everyone,” she began in since-deleted messages. “Just so you know I am out of town and I don’t approve of my baby being on a stream tonight. I wasn’t told or notified and I am extremely upset to have my baby in front of millions of people. I am his mother and protector and saddened I wasn’t notified especially when I am out of town.”
A separate tweet found Bailey admitting she was going through “severe postpartum,” before she ended up deactivating her accounts. That only lasted a few hours, as she reactivated soon after and admitted she may have overreacted with her lashing out, and thanked Kai for the gifts for her son.
“yesterday maybe i did overreact and shouldn’t have brought it here,” The Little Mermaid actress tweeted on Thursday. “i know that halo is always safe with his dad. i just don’t like finding out with the rest of the world what my baby is doing. thank u kai for the gifts for halo.”
DDG and Bailey began dating in January 2022, and Halle gave birth to Halo in late 2023. The couple announced they were splitting in October when DDG posted a message to his Instagram Story about the couple going their separate ways.
