‘Dead By Daylight’ surprise releases roguelite spin-off and confirms ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ collab
Dead By Daylight shared an anniversary stream yesterday (May 14), confirming new collabs and a brand new spin-off.
What The Fog is a roguelite Dead By Daylight spin-off that, according to the Steam listing, “answers the age-old question: What would happen if you and a friend were swallowed by a cursed board game? You’d get a two-person co-op roguelite filled with magic powers, non-stop action, and lots and lots of monsters – that’s what.
“Learn to use your new abilities and work together as you run, jump, and shoot your way through swarms of enemies, collecting Bloodpoints, repairing Generators, and unlocking exit doors in this chaotic game from the world of Dead by Daylight,” continues the description.
What The Fog is available to purchase now, with two million free copies of the game available to players who sign in to or create a Behaviour account.
As part of the stream, Dead By Daylight also confirmed upcoming collaborations with Dungeons & Dragons and Castlevania as well as a new 2v8 game mode that pits two killers against eight survivors.
The Dungeons & Dragons chapter is part of the franchise’s 50th anniversary and sees the fantasy game take a “rare” step into the world of horror, bringing a new killer, survivor and map to Dead By Daylight, alongside “Dungeons & Dragons-inspired” gameplay elements. The update is due to launch June 3, but a limited-time public test build is available now via Steam.
“Our story unfolds in the crumbling Forgotten Ruins, where the power-hungry villain, The Lich—Vecna, will stop at nothing to achieve his gruesome ambitions. Aestri Yazar, a Bard, has found herself cast into this forsaken land. She must survive at all costs—for who else will be able to tell the tale should she perish,” reads the description.
The Castelvania chapter of Dead By Daylight will release later this year.
In other news, Marvel Rivals developer NetEase has apologised after trying to ban negative comments from players.
