Dizzee Rascal drops surprise EP ‘I Invented Grime’ along with video for ‘Co-sign’

Dizzee Rascal, 2024

Dizzee Rascal has dropped a surprise EP titled ‘I Invented Grime’. Check it out below, alongside the video for new track ‘Co-Sign’.

The new release comes just months after the rapper shared his eighth studio album ‘Don’t Take It Personal’ in February, which included verses from P Money, BackRoad Gee, Not3s and D Double E, and the lead single ‘What You Know About That’ with JME.

Titled ‘I Invented Grime’, the new EP was confirmed by Rascal just last night on social media, when he took to Instagram to confirm the release was happening today (December 12).

It contains four songs titled ‘Co-Sign’, ‘Match Fit’, ‘Arsey’ and ‘Daily Duppy’. To celebrate the EP dropping, Rascal has also shared a music video for the first track, which sees him sitting surrounded by retro computers.

It’s showtime/ I don’t need a sponsor or a co-sign/I ain’t got to say my name, you know mine/ I don’t borrow bars, I got my own lines and my own rhymes/ But you can hold mine,” he sings directly into the camera.

“Either you’re with me or against me/ Eithеr you love me or resеnt me/ Is it a Rolls, is it a Bentley?/ Why am I shallow and so empty?” Check out both the music video and full EP below.

In another update, Rascal confirmed that the next music video is set to drop on Saturday (December 14) – although he didn’t clarify which song it will be for.

The new material from the grime pioneer comes just weeks after he announced details of a UK and Ireland tour, celebrating 15 years of ‘Tongue N’ Cheek’.

Arriving back in September 2009, the record contained the chart-topping singles ‘Dance wiv Me’, ‘Bonkers’, ‘Holiday’ and ‘Dirtee Disco’, and was certified platinum, and remains his best-selling LP to date. Celebrating the milestone, Dizzee embarked on a series of special headline gigs across the UK.

To mark the occasion, Dizzee also shared some never-before-released content. This included a number of remixes and live versions of the tracks, as well as a remix of ‘Bonkers’.

In other Dizzee Rascal news, the artist revealed earlier this year that he was given the beat to Beyoncé‘s 2013 single ‘Partition’, but was forced to give it up because he “couldn’t come up with” anything.

He was also announced as one of the first names for the 2025 edition of the Neighbourhood Weekender, appearing alongside James and Stereophonics.
