DLC-sized ‘Fallout: London’ mod gets surprise release
After a hefty delay, the team behind Fallout: London have finally released the full conversion mod for Fallout 4.
Work began on Fallout: London in 2019, and the player-made mod had been due for release in April this year until a surprise “next-gen” Fallout 4 update from Bethesda forced them to delay things.
Speaking to the BBC, project lead Dean Carter said the update “has, for a lack of a better term, screwed us over,” due to a lack of communication from Bethesda.
After some promising updates earlier this month, Team FOLON was finally able to release the Fallout: London mod yesterday (July 25). The ambitious player-made mod for Fallout 4 takes the post-apocalyptic action to London and introduces new quests and factions to the game.
“The wait is over. After nearly 5 years of tireless work, we are proud to release Fallout: London,” said the team, confirming the release. Dive into the city’s heart, explore its streets, and meet its people. Play one of the largest total conversion mods ever created today.”
“From stuffy parliamentary aristocrats to a resurrection of the Knights of the Round Table to an uncompromising cult of revolutionaries (and more!), Fallout: London embodies the history and aesthetics of London and puts an unmistakably nuclear spin on the beloved city,” reads the official description.
Fallout: London is available as a free download on GOG, with players needing to own Fallout 4 and all of its DLC to activate the mod. Steam players will need a downgraded version of Fallout 4, due to Bethesda releasing a second update shortly after the “next-gen” one.
Fallout: London includes 200 quests, 20 different factions, 7 potential companions, 15 London boroughs, an overhauled original soundtrack, extended dialogue system and a number of high-profile voice actors including Baldur’s Gate 3’s Neil Newbon and ex-MP, former Speaker Of The House and The Traitors star John Bercow.
In other news, a new Super Mario LEGO set has been announced and, even though it’s a few months out, fans are already going feral for it.
