Does ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ have multiplayer?
Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been fully unveiled after being teased years ago. Set in Fuedal Japan, the long-awaited next entry in Ubisoft’s franchise is coming this year. But with an ambitious roadmap for the franchise, including Assassin’s Creed Infinity as a platform, will the game have multiplayer?
Multiplayer and co-op have been absent from the franchise for a decade now, first losing its beloved PvP mode. Multiplayer was then never built upon after the release of Unity and since then, all the games have been solo adventures. Is Shadows the same?
Does ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ have multiplayer?
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will not have multiplayer or any co-op functionality. Despite the game having two playable characters, you will be able to switch between them in the game’s main single-player open-world – similar to how things worked back in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate almost a decade ago.
Naoe and Yasuke act like Jacob and Evie from Syndicate, sharing a story rather than being a choice offered to you at the beginning of the game like in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. We have yet to see just how intertwined these stories are, but Shadows will launch this new era of the franchise, so we are betting on this entry to be ambitious.
Thanks to details from Ubisoft itself, we already have details on some of the gameplay mechanics, like improved stealth mechanics, armor on enemies that can be destroyed, and the return of classic Eagle Vision.
Multiplayer is planned for this new era of Assassin’s Creed, however. The last report said it was codenamed Invictus and planned for 2025. So, you will have to wait a bit.
