Donald Trump mocked with ‘Peep Show’ and ‘The Simpsons’ memes for “they’re eating the dogs” claim during debate
Donald Trump has been roundly mocked with The Simpsons and Peep Show memes after he claimed that immigrants are abducting pets and eating them.
During yesterday’s (September 10) presidential debate in Philadelphia, he said that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio were “eating dogs” and “eating the cats” while pushing his anti-immigration policies.
Trump falsely claimed: “What they have done to our country by allowing these millions and millions of people to come into our country and look at what’s happening to the towns all over the United States.
“In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs. The people that came in. They’re eating the cats. They’re eating the pets of the people that live there. And this is what’s happening in our country, and it’s a shame”.

As he spoke, his Democrat opponent Kamala Harris looked in disbelief at the former president and started laughing.
His comments have led to an onslaught of memes on social media with many using clips from The Simpsons to mock his words.
“Donald Trump thinks he’s living in The Simpsons,” one wrote while another meme spliced his words with an animated clip from the show.

Others used footage from an episode in Peep Show when Jeremy (Robert Webb) eats a dog’s leg.
One user shared the clip with the caption: “Secretly filmed footage of immigrants only previously seen by Donald Trump.”
Trump and Harris went head to head in their first, and potentially only debate. It comes as both were virtually tied in the polls, and with voters set to cast their votes on November 5.
Airing live on US network ABC, the debate was held between the two without a live audience, and each candidate had their microphone muted while their opponent spoke. For Trump, it was his second presidential election debate of 2024, having already gone up against Joe Biden in June, shortly before he withdrew from the race.
Trump mostly reiterated the rhetoric from his rallies, while Harris used her platform to share her plans for the country and address criticisms she has received throughout her campaign.
A host of celebrities later gave their reaction with actor Mark Ruffalo writing on Twitter/X: “Honestly, I was anxious about this debate but what is clear is that Kamala not only has a vision for the future and lifting America up but she is just so much even-tempered and so much smarter than Trump. She crushed him.”
Star Wars icon Mark Hamill continued his longtime criticism of Trump by describing him as “angry, defensive and weird,” and pointing out what he saw as weak points in his arguments.
