Dua Lipa and Harry Styles in UK’s richest people under 40 list
Dua Lipa and Harry Styles have been listed among the UK’s richest people under the age of 40.
The net worth of both singers was shared as part of the first edition of The Sunday Times’ 2024 Rich List, and saw them named among the 40 Under 40 division.
The list was included as a 76-page special edition of the newspaper, and revealed the wealth of the 350 richest individuals and families across the country. It was Gopichand Parmanand Hinduja – co-chairman of conglomerate Hinduja Group – and his family who once again topped the list, with a combined wealth of £37.2billion. The figure marked the largest fortune ever recorded by the newspaper.
In the 40 Under 40 List, it was Ed Sheeran who was named as the musician with the highest wealth in 2024. Now aged 33, the ‘Shape Of You’ singer came in at 10th place on the list, and is now the richest young musician in the UK with a reported £340million.
The next pop star under the age of 40 to be listed was former One Direction singer Harry Styles. According to The Sunday Times, the 30-year-old singer has a net worth of £175million, and has seen his wealth grow considerably in recent year since taking on acting roles in films including Dunkirk and Don’t Worry Darling.
Since then, he has also invested in the new Manchester-based arena, Co-Op Live – which opened this week following a plethora of issues and setbacks. Styles is ranked in the 17th spot on the list, alongside boxing star Anthony Joshua.
Tottenham-born singer Adele is listed as the 19th wealthiest person under the age of 40, and has been listed as having a net worth of £170million. This figure will no doubt have been assisted by her long-running residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, as well as the hype about her upcoming residency in Europe.
Styles, Sheeran and Adele were all also listed on the 2023 40 Under 40 list.
Pop singer Dua Lipa is also named on the list for 2024, and placed in joint 29th position with Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe. Each has a reported wealth of £90million.
The inclusion of Lipa on the list will have been aided by the recent release of her latest album ‘Radical Optimism’, as well as the announcement that she will be one of the headliners for this year’s instalment of Glastonbury.
The slot at worthy farm will be her first time headlining the iconic festival, and others set to perform on the Pyramid stage include Coldplay, SZA, Shania Twain and many more. Visit here for the full line-up and stage splits so far.
As for her latest album, NME gave ‘Radical Optimism’ a three-star review, and described it as summery, yet playing it safe.
“This is a solid pop album – on occasions, a very good one – but also frustratingly passive,” it read. “[Glastonbury is] the kind of place where ‘Radical Optimism’ might thrive: the album’s beachy vibes feel suited to a festival field’s carefree disposition. You just wish there was a little more to these songs.”
Elsewhere on The Sunday Times’ 2024 Rich List, it was confirmed that Paul McCartney has become the first billionaire musician in the UK.
According to the outlet, the musician now has a net worth of £1billion, and this is a figure which has grown by £50million over the past 12 months.
Others from the music world that made the main Rich List included Sir Elton John, who broke records for his headline appearance at Glastonbury last Summer, former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham who is listed alongside her husband David, and West end legend Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber.
