Dua Lipa announces special fifth anniversary vinyl re-release of ‘Future Nostalgia’
Dua Lipa has announced a special re-release of ‘Future Nostalgia’ in celebration of its fifth anniversary.
The re-release is pressed on one yellow splatter vinyl and two traditional black vinyl discs. The 3 LP set includes the album’s original 11 tracks, along with the deluxe ‘Moonlight’ Edition, and the remix album ‘Club Future Nostalgia’.
The vinyl set will be released on March 28, almost exactly five years after the album first dropped. The original album’s release was originally meant to be April 3 but was brought forward by a week, coinciding with the beginning of the first COVID-19 lockdown. The album was also leaked, which influenced the decision to move it forward.
Since its release, ‘Future Nostalgia’ has racked up over 22 billion streams across all platforms worldwide, making it the 7th most streamed album ever globally.
Speaking to NME at the time of its release, Lipa said of its composition: “I felt really confident in my lyrical language and I worked with close friends [this time around] so I wasn’t afraid to be vulnerable in the studio. I knew exactly what I wanted and how to assert myself in a studio and around people.”
Addressing the decision to move the album forward, while other artists were delaying their albums due to the pandemic she said: “I’m super happy that everybody gets to have [the album]. The response has been really nice and I couldn’t have wanted it to go any other way.”

“Music serves as an escape and I’m hoping that this music just brings some light and joy, and takes away from what’s going on outside.”
In a five-star review of ‘Future Nostalgia’, NME wrote: “When she made this album, the musician couldn’t know just how awful a state the world would be upon it’s released. But that just makes her achieving her mission all the more important. ‘Future Nostalgia’ is a bright, bold collection of pop majesty to dance away your anxieties to… if only for a little while.”
In other news, Lipa paid her respects following the “death” of the Duolingo owl.
The announcement of the mascot’s death made reference to her, quipping: “We appreciate you respecting Dua Lipa’s privacy at this time.”
Now, acknowledging news of his death, Lipa has taken to X/Twitter to pay tribute to the owl. Reposting the news from the official Duolingo page, she added the caption: “Til’ death duo part”, along with a broken heart emoji.
