Falling In Reverse’s Ronnie Radke reportedly files defamation suit against Anthony Fantano
Falling In Reverse frontman Ronnie Radke has reportedly filed a defamation suit against YouTube music critic Anthony Fantano.
It’s reported that Radke has claimed that Fantano “acted in malice” and “engaged in fraud” through his 2023 video about the singer, titled ‘This Guy Sucks’.
The pair have previously had words on X, formerly Twitter, over Fantano’s review of the Falling In Reverse song ‘Watch The World Burn’ in February 2023. But five months later, in August, Fantano posted the aforementioned video, in which he brought up a range of allegations made against Radke over the years.
The suit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday (August 20). Radke had warned of legal action against Fantano in past social media posts, if he did not remove the video, but the video is currently still on YouTube.
According to Rock Feed, who obtained the legal documents filed against Fantano by Radke, the singer’s legal team say that Fantano’s posting went “outside the bounds of permissible commentary and extends well into the realm of actionable innuendo, unfounded rumormongering and outright untruth.”
In a video post from Rock Feed, it’s also claimed that Fantano used headlines from music websites misleadingly to support his narrative, detailing three alleged accusations against Radke that the accusers later retracted. In all three instances, the lawsuit states that Fantano hadn’t mentioned how they turned out.
As a result, the suit alleges that “Fantano acted with malice aforethought and/or engaged in fraud, malice and/or oppression,” and Radke is therefore seeking punitive damages against him.
On December 18, there is set to be a case management conference regarding the case.
After news of the reported lawsuit broke, one X user said of Radke, “How’s he gonna complain about how he can’t say anything, but then sue people for …. saying things?”
Radke acknowledged the post, saying in response: “You should be allowed to say what you want, and also not call people rapist or repeat insanely false damning traumatic shit. Unacceptable. Stand up for yourself.”
