Bethesda has confirmed a lot of new content is due to come to Fallout 76 over the coming months.

Yesterday (October 23) was Fallout Day, with developers Bethesda hosting the first official celebrations after years of fan-led events. As well as in-game experiences, they also hosted a Fallout 76 stream to give players a glimpse at the future of the online action role-playing game.

In December, fans will be able to add dogs and cats to their camps with some “not so furry” creatures due to be included in a future update. “These faithful animals hang out at your camp and can interact with special pet furniture, such as a pile of bones for the dog. You can even pet them and customise accessories like their collars,” said a dedicated blog.

A new challenging end game raid will also be coming to Fallout 76 later this year. ‘The Gleaming Depths’ will see teams of four players battle their way through an abandoned research lab. According to creative director Jonathan Rush, there will be “several incredibly demanding encounters” in the dungeon, including the game’s biggest ever boss – the Ultracite Terror.

Speaking to Eurogamer, lead producer Bill LaCoste described it as something “completely new” for Fallout 76. “The one thing we’ve always wanted to do was bring a little bit more challenge to the game, especially for a game that’s online and has people with each other in teams and actually doing something competitive.”

To help players out, Fallout 76 players will also be able to earn four-star legendary rewards including powerful tools and weapons. They will also be able to play as a ghoul for the first time in a Fallout game. “It opens up many new playstyles with the addition of ghoul-specific perk cards and a new feral meter. You won’t need to worry about hunger or thirst but remember, some people and factions just don’t take kindly to ghouls,” said developers.

The stream also gave players a look beyond the December update with a tease that fishing would be introduced in the near future, allowing players to catch and eat a number of different creatures. LaCoste also teased that fishing can be used in “different ways” but a full reveal will come later this year.

In other news, former UK Special Forces soldiers have worked on Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 to make the game as realistic as possible.
