‘Fallout: London’ is breaking huge download records
Fallout: London is the huge overhaul mod that changes Fallout 4 into a British post-apocalytpic wasteland. It’s been so popular with Fallout fans that it’s become the fastest downloaded game on GOG ever.
A news post over on GOG (via PC Gamer) claims the mod was downloaded more than 500,000 times, “making it the fastest redeemed game on GOG ever.” GOG is a digital storefront that allows players to purchase DRM-free copies of video games, meaning they can play without any internet connection once the game is installed. It’s owned by CD Proket, developer of The Witcher games and Cyberpunk 2077.
The rollout of Fallout: London was rocky, as many players complained of frequent game crashes. “Been trying to get fallout London working all day but I’m constantly met with cmd screens Ive managed to boot the game up once but since then nothing,” one player claimed.
Fortunately, a big update is on the way that aims to fix a lot of these early issues. In the mod’s Discord channel, the modders wrote, “We have some big plans for the future, starting with a hotfix […] We’ve also identified several other fixes that will provide immediate help.”
Fallout: London brings the iconic franchise across the pond for the first time. Usually set in the U.S. due to the satirising of the country, this is the first time there’s been Fallout outside of America.
Fallout fans could be getting even more in the future, as Josh Sawyer, lead designer on Fallout: New Vegas said he would be open to coming back to the series.
In other news, Fortnite fans are excited for the launch of Season 4 tomorrow. The new season is titled Absolute Doom and will feature a host of MCU characters.
