Fans Choose Bacilos’ ‘Pequeños Romances’ as This Week’s Favorite New Music Latin
Bacilos’ latest studio album, Pequeños Romances, has topped this week’s new music Latin poll.
In a poll published on Friday (May 17) — in support of the weekly New Music Latin roundup and playlist, curated by Billboard Latin and Billboard Español editors — music fans voted for the duo’s newest production as their favorite music release of the past week.
Pequeños Romances, which translates to “small romances,” garnered over 47% of the votes, beating out other new albums that dropped that week including Luis Fonsi’s El Viaje, LAGOS’ Alta Fidelidad, Alejo’s En Esta Nos Fuimos Lejos, and Darumas’ self-titled debut set, to name a few.
Coming in at a very close second favorite was Fonsi’s travel-inspired album with more than 46% of the votes.
Pequeños Romances is an 11-track musical journey that includes the album’s first single “Anoche,” a distinct tropipop sound that really set the tone for what fans could expect on the album before it dropped. Its focus single, “Enredadera,” is a bohemian tune backed by el cajón and enchanting violin chords, which tells the story of an eternal love. Notably, the song captures the band’s essence through a sample of two of their biggest hits: “Tabaco y Channel” and “Mi Primer Millón.”
During an IG live with Billboard last week, longtime members Jorge Villamizar and André Lopes explained how the album carries the unique sound of Miami — the place that has influenced and accompanied them throughout their career. Villamizar further emphasized that this album focused him on where his voice was headed, serving as an essential starting point for the album’s creation.
