Fans might be disappointed by ‘GTA 6’, says former developer
People have been waiting for over 11 years for Grand Theft Auto 6, the sequel to the most profitable piece of entertainment media ever released, GTA 5. However, a former Rockstar developer says fans may be disappointed.
As spotted by 80.lv, in a recent interview between former Rockstar developer Obbe Vermeij and the SanInPlay YouTube channel, Vermeij said about the upcoming GTA 6, “I don’t think it is going to be wildly different from GTA 5. I think maybe people might be a little disappointed on the first day.”
He suggests that we won’t get the same kind of jump in graphics as we did between older games in the series. This is true of most games these days, with leaps between consoles getting smaller and smaller.
Despite his concern people will be disappointed, Vermeij still believes GTA 6 will be “the best game out there.” He added, “I love the Miami vibe. The scene that blows me away is the one on the beach where everybody seems to be doing something else, every character has got his own animation. I think that looks pretty amazing. … It’s going to be a good game.”
GTA 6 is due to launch autumn 2025. It will be set in the Florida and Miami-inspired Vice City, and appears to follow the story of dual protagonists Lucia and her as-yet-unnamed male partner. The trailer for the game has amassed over 201million views and has over 11million likes.
The game was only confirmed to be in development by Rockstar in 2022, but reports had been coming out about it for several years before that. In September 2022, massive alleged leaks of the game came out that apparently revealed work-in-progress gameplay.
In other news, over £1million worth of Pokemon cards were allegedly stolen from a family-run business in the UK.
