Fans React to Drake Playing Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Espresso’ While Gambling at the Club

Drake and Sabrina Carpenter have been duking it out on the charts lately, as their albums sat at No. 1 and No. 2 respectively last week on the Billboard 200 — but that doesn’t mean that have any animosity towards each other.

Recently, a video surfaced on X of the Toronto rapper blasting Carpenter’s massive hit “Espresso” as he used online gambling site Stake in an apparently rented out club.

The original footage in question was posted by an Instagram user who included the caption, “@champagnepapi rented out our club and is playing Stake on a Tuesday. This guy is different, man,” shows Drake in a comfy white robe, sitting on a couch with his laptop, and playing a virtual slot machine on a big screen.

Apparently, the video has fans split with some calling it “a cry for help” while others are calling it a “W” and a “brilliant marketing” tactic by Stake.

The divide goes back to his battle with Kendrick Lamar, when the Compton rapper suggested that Drake might have a gambling addiction multiple times on the song “Meet the Grahams.”

“I’m blamin’ you for all his gamblin’ addictions,” Lamar rapped on the track’s second verse addressed to Drake’s mother Sandra. And he brings it up again on the last verse where he’s talking to Drake directly, claiming “You got gamblin’ problems, drinkin’ problems, pill-poppin’ and spendin’ problems.”

For what it’s worth, Drake has an endorsement deal with Stake and frequently posts his bets before big sporting events and Sabrina covered his song “Hold On, We’re Going Home” back in 2020 during a video interview with Elle.
