Fernando Cabral de Mello Named CEO of Sony Music Entertainment Brazil

Fernando Cabral de Mello has been named CEO of Sony Music Entertainment Brazil, Sony Music Latin Iberia announced on Thursday (March 27). His appointment comes as part of a new organizational structure for Sony’s operations in the country.

The “newly unified entity” will encompass Sony Music Brazil, Som Livre and also oversee the joint venture with ticketing and live entertainment company, CTS EVENTIM. All of these entities will continue to operate independently, according to a press release.

Reporting to Afo Verde, chairman/CEO of Sony Music Latin Iberia, Cabral de Mello will be responsible for “driving the overall strategy, streamlining operations, and leveraging the combined resources and expertise” across the aforementioned business units, the release states.

“I am excited to take on this new role and lead Sony Music Entertainment Brazil into a new era of growth and innovation,” Cabral de Mello said in a statement. “Brazil is a dynamic and ever-evolving market, and I am eager to collaborate with our talented teams to continue to deliver exceptional value to our artists, partners, and fans.”

Cabral de Mello, who boasts more than 25 years of experience in the industry, joined Sony Music in 2005 and has since held various leadership roles, including his most recent post as executive vp of business development for Sony Music Latin Iberia. The executive has also played a key role in the growth of CTS EVENTIM in South America and has additionally led the premium content division for Latin Iberia, overseeing the development and production of documentaries, films and TV series.

“This strategic move reinforces our commitment to the Brazilian market,” added Verde in a statement. “Fernando is a proven leader with a deep understanding of this amazing country. We are excited to see him lead these talented teams and drive the future of music and entertainment in Brazil.”
