Final ‘Alan Wake 2’ DLC gets release date
Alan Wake 2 expansion The Lake House has finally got a release date.
Announced last month, The Lake House is the second DLC for Alan Wake 2, following on from the Night Springs expansion which launched earlier this year.
“Dive into a harrowing survival horror experience with the latest expansion for Alan Wake 2, set in an eerie new location on the shores of Cauldron Lake,” reads the official description. “Within the Federal Bureau of Control’s research station, the Lake House, a catastrophic event has occurred, where reckless experiments have caused reality to collide with the Dark Place.”
The Lake House is set to launch October 22 and will be free for all owners of the Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition. The DLC is the last piece of planned content for the game.
In a blog post, the Alan Wake 2 expansion is described as a “true survival horror experience” and is set parallel to events in the early stages of the game.
“It also opens brand new doors into the wider Remedy Connected Universe – leaving us with a lot of questions,” the post continued. The Lake House features Federal Bureau Of Control (FBC) agent Kiran Estevez, with that organisation a central pillar of Remedy’s other title, Control.
“Control explores horror themes as well of course, but with Alan Wake 2 being a survival horror game we just felt that the world of Control provides some rather harrowing elements for us to lean into and scare players with,” said game director, Kyle Rowley of the crossover.
A Control sequel is currently in the works, and fans think the events of Alan Wake 2’s The Lake House DLC could tease what’s planned. “Let’s just say that we’re as excited as anyone in seeing how the story of the Faden siblings unfold in the future,” said Rowley.
In other news, the sequel to underwater horror Subnautica has been confirmed, with players able to dive into the murky depths of early access from next year.
