FKA Twigs makes appearance at London show fundraiser for Gaza and Sudan aid, featuring Mustafa and Clairo
FKA Twigs made a special appearance yesterday (July 4) at a London fundraising show in support of Gaza and Sudan.
Performing a rendition of ‘Cellophane’, the singer was billed as a special guest at a charity show organised by Mustafa as part of collective Artists For Aid. Taking place at the Troxy, the concert dedicated its proceeds towards War Child UK’s Response Plan in Gaza and Sudan, which focuses on food, water and hygiene-based aid, as well as seeking to deliver education and mental health care to over 120,000 children.

“London! Sudan is calling. Gaza is calling. Every artist here is a hero of empathy, thank you for answering our call,” wrote the Sudanese-Canadian artist on Twitter about the gig. “There is a war, strike a chord, cry an answer,”

The Troxy show follows a benefit concert organised by Mustafa earlier this year in New Jersey, which also sought to raise funds for Gaza and Sudan. The show, held in benefit for Human Concern International, took place on January 4 at Newark Symphony Hall and included a line-up that featured artists including Stormzy, Faye Webster, Omar Apollo and more. London performers Daniel Caesar and Ramy Youssef also featured in the New Jersey gig’s line-up.
Earlier in June, Mustafa released the charity single ‘Gaza Is Calling’, which dedicated its proceeds to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. Commenting on the song, the Sudanese-Canadian artist wrote that it evidenced “how this sorrow & occupation has always been”. The song follows his March release ‘Imaan’, which marked his debut for label Jagjaguwar.
FKA Twigs is currently embroiled in a legal battle with her ex-boyfriend Shia LaBeouf, which is scheduled for court trial in October this year. Last year, FKA Twigs indefinitely postponed plans for the follow-up to her 2022 release ‘CAPRISONGS’, declaring “no new music for a while” after revealing on Instagram that 85 demos of hers were leaked.
Meanwhile, earlier this May, FKA Twigs was also slated to play the mother of Jesus alongside Nicolas Cage in The Carpenter’s Son, an upcoming horror film revolving around Jesus’ childhood.
