Frank Ocean’s ‘Lost’ Hits 1 Billion Spotify Streams
Frank Ocean‘s 2012 track “Lost” has found a new accomplishment 12 years after its release: It recently hit 1 billion streams on Spotify.
This marks Ocean’s third song to reach this milestone, following Calvin Harris‘ “Slide,” also featuring Migos, and “Pink + White.” “Lost” was the fourth single from his debut studio album Channel Orange, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It also won the Grammy for best urban contemporary album at the 2013 awards show, where it was also nominated for album of the year when Ocean was up for best new artist.
“Lost” found new success on the Billboard charts two years ago thanks to a viral TikTok dance challenge. The song reached No. 25 on Hot R&B Songs in 2013 and didn’t appear on any all-genre charts at the time, but it debuted at No. 39 on the all-genre Streaming Songs survey in January 2022 (and later reached a No. 23 peak) and hit No. 10 on R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs, No. 3 on R&B Streaming Songs and No. 2 on R&B Digital Song Sales in February 2022.
Ocean, who headlined the first weekend of Coachella last year but dropped out the second weekend, hasn’t dropped an album since his 2016 magnum opus Blonde. Blonde earned the elusive artist his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200. Since then, he has occasionally dropped singles like 2017’s “Chanel,” “Biking,” “Lens” and “Provider”; 2018’s “Moon River”; 2019’s “DHL” and “In My Room”; and 2020’s “Cayendo” and “Dear April.”
