fromis_9 five members cryptic teaser asnd new label

K-pop girl group fromis_9 have dropped a cryptic new teaser, their first since they signed on with a new label.

On March 26, South Korean label ASND uploaded a video teaser on its social media channels featuring five of the eight members from fromis_9: Song Ha-young, Park Ji-won, Lee Na-kyung, Lee Chae-young and Baek Ji-heon.

Simply captioned ‘fromis_9’, the video features monochrome video clips of the five singers as they pose for a photoshoot, overlayed with audio snippets of their own voices as they talk about their hopes for new beginnings.

fromis_9’s three remaining members – Lee Sae-rom, Roh Ji-sun and Lee Seo-yeon – have yet to publicly sign with new labels, and their involvement in the group’s future activities remains unclear.

The teaser is the first since they signed exclusive contracts with the agency in January to “continue with their group activities”. “It must have taken a lot of thought and courage for the artists to decide to continue their group activities,” wrote ASND at the time.

“We at ASND are sincerely grateful to the artists for their great courage and for choosing to walk this journey with us, and we promise to provide unwavering support and encouragement so that they can pursue their dreams going forward.”

All eight fromis_9 members parted ways with longtime label Pledis Entertainment and its parent company, HYBE, following the expirations of their contracts in December last year. Prior to that, fromis_9 released one last song under the label titled ‘From’.

fromis_9 were formed in 2017 through the reality TV show Idol School and debuted in January 2018 with their first mini-album ‘To.Heart’ under Stone Music Entertainment. The group joined Pledis Entertainment in August 2021 following a change in management.
