Fuerza Regida Lights Up the 2024 BBMAs With ‘Pero No Te Enamores’ & ‘Nel’ Performances

If there’s one thing you can count on when it comes to Fuerza Regida‘s performances, it’s that frontman JOP’s swagger can really get a crowd riled up. The Mexican American group’s performance at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards on Thursday (Dec. 12) was no exception.

Just before performing, Fuerza accepted Top Duo/Group and Top Latin Duo/Group awards and took a moment to thank its fanbase for supporting them throughout the years. “First of all, we wanna thank all the fans, thank you guys very much, we really appreciate you guys. You know, we’re making history together. We’re the best group right now in the world,” JOP said, also thanking their label Street Mob Records.

Clad in an off-white outfit with a matching bucket hat and large sunglasses, the Jersey corridos pioneer delivered a riveting performance of “Pero No Te Enamores” and “Nel,” two of the biggest hits from Fuerza’s latest, genre-spanning album, Pero No Te Enamores, which the group released in July.

Backed by puncturing instruments such as a tuba, requintos and the tololoche, lead singer JOP first performed “Pero No Te Enamores” in a more intimate setting where it was just the band and a few dancers in tow. Then, Fuerza Regida stepped out to a roaring crowd to perform “Nel,” with JOP surrounded by a troupe of fierce female dancers.

Both songs entered the Hot Latin Songs chart over the summer, where “Pero No Te Enamores” currently sits at No. 12 and “Nel” at No. 3. Fuerza Regida is a four-time finalist at this year’s BBMAs. The group from San Bernardino, Calif., was also for Top Latin Album for Pa Las Baby’s Y Belikeada and Top Latin Artist, up against peers like Bad Bunny, Junior H, Karol G and Peso Pluma.

The Billboard Music Awards are produced by Dick Clark Productions, which is owned by Penske Media Corporation. PMC is also the parent company of Billboard.
