Future Shares Unreleased ‘Rotation’ Video to Celebrate ‘DS2’ 9th Anniversary
Future celebrated the ninth anniversary of his landmark third solo album DS2 yesterday by sharing the unreleased video for “Rotation,” with a caption that reads, “Unreleased, 9years later DS2 PLUTO back.”‘
Directed by Rich Nyce, the video features Future at his local gas station with the gang, hanging out and drinking dirty Sprites as he boasts about “putting a famous b—h in rotation.”
He’s been hinting at new music in mixtape form since May, a month after dropping his second No. 1 album of the year We Still Don’t Trust You with Metro Boomin. Fans first thought he was dropping May 10, because he tweeted, “F—k yo album sh— ain’t slappin like my mixtape” followed by “May Tenth” and “Mixtatpe Pluto.” However, those tweets were actually about a Tee Grizzley song he was featured on.
In another twist, a few weeks later, he tweeted out, “can’t sleep until it’s complete #MIXTAPEPLUTO” and now he’s saying that Pluto is back.
Future dropping mixtape before 2024 is over would cap arguably the best year of his career. He and Metro delivered two No.1 albums a month apart and also had a No. 1 single in “Like That” featuring Kendrick Lamar that initiated a historic beef between Drake and a handful of former collaborators that some refer to as the Rap Game Sinister Six that included Future, Metro Boomin, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, A$AP Rocky, and Rick Ross — a play on a band of comic book supervillains within the Spider-Man universe.
We would consider ourselves lucky if we were able to get Mixtape Pluto to make his triumphant return.
