In the run-up to her first-ever appearance at Glastonbury 2024, Avril Lavigne has kicked off her ‘Greatest Hits’ tour. Check out footage of the show and the full setlist below.

The new run of tour dates come in celebration of the Canadian pop-punk star’s first-ever greatest hits album – aptly named ‘Avril Lavigne — Greatest Hits’.

She kicked off the huge tour on Wednesday night (May 22), launching with a huge opening night at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver. It is set to be followed up tomorrow night (Saturday, May 25), with a show in Auburn, Washington, followed by further stops in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Toronto, Charlotte, Chicago and more before ending on September 16 in Edmonton.

For the show last night, the singer opened the 15-song setlist by breaking out a huge fan-favourite ‘Girlfriend’, before launching into more classics including ‘What The Hell’, ‘Complicated’ and ‘Smile’.

From there, she embedded tracks from her latest album – 2022’s ‘Love Sux’ – into the setlist too, such as ‘Bite Me’ and ‘Love It When You Hate Me’, before delivering a rendition of the massive 2002 hit ‘Sk8ter Boy’ – which arrived on her ‘Let Go’ album.

One of the main surprises of the night though, came towards the end of her set at the Rogers Arena, when she delivered a rendition of the All Time Low track ‘Fake As Hell’ – also surprising fans by welcoming the members to the stage for a duet of the song. The band are currently acting as support for the tour dates, as well as Simple Plan.

Other huge moments during the show came a little earlier in the setlist, as Lavigne dusted off two tracks, back-to-back. These were ‘Don’t Tell Me’ and ‘He Wasn’t’, both of which appeared on her second studio album ‘Under My Skin’ and haven’t been played live since 2019. The introduction of them back into the setlist comes as the sophomore LP celebrates its 20th anniversary tomorrow (May 25).

The Canadian pop-rock icon is set to release the greatest hits album on June 21 – just days before she performs at the legendary Worthy Farm festival for the first time.

As well as US shows and her Glasto debut slot lined up, the singer will also be performing at various places across Europe, including a set at Mad Cool in Madrid. She also has a run of huge outdoor gigs planned across the UK. Visit here for all UK tickets.

The singer’s latest album, ‘Love Sux‘, came out in February of 2022, described by NME in a three-star review as “a modern update on early ’00s pop-punk”. It added: “‘Love Sux’ is a progressive pop-punk album that eschews the old rules – but not at the expense of maximalist, joyful guitar anthems.”
