(G)I-DLE renew contracts with CUBE Entertainment
All five members of (G)I-DLE have renewed their contracts with longtime label CUBE Entertainment.
(G)I-DLE first broke the news of their contract renewals on November 30. Leader Soyeon made the surprise announcement as part of their speech at the MelOn Music Awards 2024, after receiving the Record of the Year grand prize.
“My contract expired, and these days there are many articles being released that are like ‘(G)I-DLE is disbanding’ or ‘(G)I-DLE is over’,” Soyeon shared, as translated by Soompi. “However, not me alone, but the five of us all decided to renew our contracts together. We had the discussion before coming on stage today.”
She also assured fans that “the five of us will be together from now on, next year, the year after, and really forever”. Soyeon then concluded her speech by adding, “We will give back with good music next year, as well.”
On December 2, CUBE Entertainment confirmed the “successful renewal of contracts with all members of (G)I-DLE” in a statement published to the band’s X (formerly Twitter) account.
“After thorough discussions with the members of (G)I-DLE, we are happy to announce that we have successfully completed the renewal of contracts with all members, including Soyeon, whose contract had already expired,” the statement read, “as well as Miyeon, Minnie, Yuqi and Shuhua, who still had time remaining on their previous agreements.”
“Through this contract renewal, we are committed to strengthening the brand that (G)I-DLE has built over the past seven years,” the label wrote. “CUBE Entertainment will continue to provide unwavering support as they move toward greater stages and higher achievements.”

The news comes months after CUBE Entertainment confirmed in August that Soyeon’s contract had been due to end in November. At the time, the company also confirmed through a brief statement that discussions about a renewal were underway.
The five piece last released music today in July with the mini-album ‘I Sway’, led by title track ‘Klaxon’. ‘I Sway’ was the follow-up to their January full-length record ‘[2]’, the album that won them the Record of the Year prize.
‘[2]’, meanwhile, featured the singles ‘Wife’ and ‘Super Lady’. It also included the album cut ‘Fate’, which later emerged as a sleeper hit in Korea and won (G)I-DLE the Best Vocal Performance for a Female Group award at the 2024 MAMA Awards.
