Girl group XG drop explosive ‘WOKE UP’ music video
Korea-based Japanese girl group XG have made their return with a powerful visual for their new single ‘WOKE UP’.
On May 21 at 6pm KST, the septet – formed by Jurin, Chisa, Hinata, Juria, Cocona, Maya and Harvey – unveiled their latest single ‘WOKE UP’ and its music video. The futuristic new visual for the track features the members launching into space as the world explodes around them.
“Woke up lookin’ like this / So don’t get under my skin / Woke up lookin’ like this / Woke up lookin’ like this / So don’t get under my skin / Woke up lookin’ like this,” they chant on the refrain.
‘WOKE UP’ marks XG’s first release of 2024, arriving nearly eight months after their debut EP ‘New DNA’. That record included pre-release singles ‘GRL GVNG’, ‘TGIF’ and ‘New Dance’, and was later released in full with lead single ‘Puppet Show’.
Prior to this, the group released a string of singles including ‘Tippy Toes’, ‘Mascara’, ‘Shooting Star’ and ‘Left Right’. XG began gaining international recognition in late 2022, after a cypher featuring the group’s rappers Jurin, Maya, Harvey and Cocona went viral on TikTok and YouTube.
Yesterday (May 20), XG announced new Asia dates for their ‘The First Howl’ world tour. In addition to their ongoing shows in Japan, the septet are set to hold concerts in Seoul, Taipei, Singapore and more this July and August. More shows in Greater China, the Americas, Australia and Europe will be announced at a later date.
