‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ is still coming in 2025, publisher confirms
Grand Theft Auto 6 is still on track to be released in autumn 2025, according to a press release.
As reported by Kotaku, Take-Two, the parent company of GTA developer Rockstar, claims the game has not been delayed and should arrive later this year.
“The Grand Theft Auto series exceeded our expectations, as momentum continues to build ahead of the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 in Fall 2025,” reads a press release from the company.
We got our first look at the upcoming open-world game back in December 2023, and it showed off the Miami and Florida-inspired Vice City and its surrounding swamp land. We also got a glimpse of the game’s dual protagonists, one of whom is the first female protagonist since the original Grand Theft Auto.
Lucia, one of the leads for GTA 6, seems like she’ll be far more fleshed out than Divine, Katie, Mikki, and Ulrika, the four playable women in GTA. Like their four male counterparts, who you pick has no effect on the story or gameplay – they’re just different avatars for you to choose from.
While we haven’t seen any more of the game since December, fans believe they know when the next trailer will be coming thanks to some sleuthing in a GTA Online video. A license plate for a pizza delivery scooter reads PIZZ4 and has the letters OCT in the top left corner, so keep your eyes peeled on October 4.
Don’t get too excited, though, as one former Rockstar developer has warned that fans may be disappointed with GTA 6, stating: “I don’t think it is going to be wildly different from GTA 5. I think maybe people might be a little disappointed on the first day.”
In other news, Helldivers 2 players are frustrated that more weapons have been nerfed as part of a new update.
