‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ PC release window may have been confirmed

It seems like the release window for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto 6 has been confirmed.

Grand Theft Auto 6 was officially announced at the end of 2023 with a 2025 release window for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 gamers. Developers Rockstar haven’t mentioned when the PC version of the game will be released though.

Grand Theft Auto 5 was originally released in September 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360 before the game was re-released the following year for PS4 and Xbox One. A PC version of the game was due to come out at the same time but was delayed numerous times before eventually releasing in April 2015. There was also a 13-month gap between the console and PC versions of Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2.

According to desktop accessories company Corsair Gaming, the PC edition of Grand Theft Auto 6 is coming next year. “GTA 6 is probably the one [release] everyone is talking about,” said Corsair’s financial vice president Ronald van Veen during a recent earnings call (via VGC).

“And we’ll get a glimpse of that, I think, later on in the year for console. My understanding now is that it’s going to come out in the fall for console, and then early 2026 for PC,” he added.

Speaking about a PC version of Grand Theft Auto 6, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick recently said: “We don’t always go across all platforms simultaneously. Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms. We have seen PC become a much more and more important part of what used to be a console business, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see that trend continue.”

He also hinted that Grand Theft Auto 6 could be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 because it’s a more adult-friendly console.

A firm release date for Grand Theft Auto 6 has yet to be announced but Zelnick is feeling “really good” the game will launch this year. “Look, there’s always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like ‘absolutely’, you jinx things,” he added.

In other news, Spiritbox played their biggest ever headline show at London’s Alexandra Palace last week – and one fan captured the moment on their Nintendo 3DS.
