‘GTA 6’ release date is bad news for PC gamers
The hotly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 is due to come out in the latter half of 2025 for console gamers, but there’s no news yet of a PC launch date.
For two of Rockstar‘s recent games, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, PC versions of the games came out in April 2015 and November 2019, respectively. That’s a year-and-a-half and a year-long wait. Fortunately, the wait did decrease between GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, so GTA 6 may only take an extra six months on PC, but there are no guarantees.
As spotted by GamingBible, fans of the series on Reddit have been sharing their frustrations. User MaxSniffer007 posted what looks to be a fan-made prediction of when GTA 6 will come to PC: aumtumn 2026 to spring 2027.
“It will probably be Fall 2026 for PC,” writes blue_falcon92. “GTAV released on PC in 2015 instead of 2014 because Rockstar were busy porting the game to PS4 and Xbox One, except this time the next generation of consoles shouldn’t happen until like 2028, so they will be able to jump straight to the PC port.”
One PC player says they’ll be making the leap over to console for GTA 6, but only as a temporary measure. “I’ll probably be trying to find a used current gen console to play it on, then flip it and the physical copy of the game for not too much of a loss when it releases on PC. I also fucking hate that that’s what you have to do to play on launch.”
All we know for now is that the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of GTA 6 will be coming some time in autumn 2025, with no official news for the PC launch.
In other news, a Lord of the Rings MMO is still in the “early” stages of development.
