Halsey launches global scavenger hunt to reveal ‘The Great Impersonator’ artwork
Halsey has launched a global scavenger hunt through which fans will reveal the artwork for ‘The Great Impersonator’.
The singer-songwriter announced her new “confessional concept album” last week by sharing a video trailer online.
Explaining that the record will delve into different decades, Halsey said: “What if I debuted in the early 2000s? The ’90s? The ’80s? The ’70s? Am I still Halsey every time? In every timeline, do I still get sick? Do I become a mom?
“Am I happy? Lonely? Have I done enough? Have I told the truth? I spent half my life being someone else, I never stopped to ask myself: if it all ended right now, is this the person you’d be proud to leave behind? Is it even you?”
In another clip posted yesterday (September 3), Halsey told her followers that fans from around the world would help unveil the project’s official cover art.
“My next trick is not mine at all. It’s yours,” she began. “Tomorrow, you will reveal the album cover for ‘The Great Impersonator’ along with four variants.

“I have hidden five time capsules from five different decades at special locations in the following cities: London, New York, Toronto, Los Angeles and Sydney.”
Halsey continued: “I’ll reveal clues on my socials along the way. You must work together, as the next city’s clues will not be revealed until the previous city is found.
“Go to TheGreatImpersonator.COM to watch and follow along. Don’t blink, or you’ll miss it.”

In June Halsey released the single ‘The End’, which detailed her experience of being diagnosed with Lupus SLE and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder in 2022.
She followed it up with the Britney Spears-sampling ‘Lucky’ the following month, and more recently dropped ‘Lonely Is The Muse’. Halsey also debuted a new song called ‘Ego’ at an intimate gig in London this summer.
‘The Great Impersonator’ will serve as the follow-up to 2021’s ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power’, and marks Halsey’s fifth studio album. Further details about the project are not yet known.
Halsey has teased that her new record will be “all over the place” and “full of experimentation”, and opened up about the “complex feelings” after she suffered a miscarriage during a show in 2015.
