‘The Great Impersonator’, Halsey’s fifth studio album is due for release on October 25. Now, the singer-songwriter has revealed a new social media series in which she impersonates the musicians who have inspired the upcoming album. To begin, Halsey has paid homage to Dolly Parton, recreating the 1987’s beloved cover.

In a second post, Halsey has shared a snippet of ‘Hometown’ from the forthcoming record, which was inspired by Parton. The country-tinged songs includes the lyrics: “The American dream means stayin’ young forever / And the picture in our pamphlet gettin’ yellow from the weather / And years will pass since science class and I might forget your name / But when the crow’s feet come, the kingdom come, well, you’ll always look the same“.

Back in June, the singer took to social media to reveal that she had been diagnosed with Lupus SLE and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder in 2022. “Both of which are currently being managed or in remission; and both of which I will likely have for the duration of my life,” she wrote in the caption of her post. “After a rocky start, I slowly got everything under control with the help of amazing doctors. After 2 years, I’m feeling better and I’m more grateful than ever to have music to turn to. I can’t wait to get back where I belong: With you all Singing and screaming my heart out.”
In other news, Halsey recently revealed the full tracklist for her upcoming fifth studio album, ‘The Great Impersonator’. The LP includes the previously released singles ‘Ego’, ‘The End’, ‘Lonely Is The Muse’ and ‘Lucky’ and is set for release on October 25 and is available for pre-order now. ‘The Great Impersonator’ will serve as the follow-up to 2021’s ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power’.
In a four-star review of the 2021 LP, NME shared: “It almost goes without saying that this album is intense as hell and not exactly teeming with light relief. It’s also an intricate and an endlessly compelling artistic statement that only Halsey could have made.”
Halsey has since teased that her new record will be “all over the place” and “full of experimentation”.
