Hardcore shooter ‘Gray Zone Warfare’ looks perfect for ‘Tarkov’ fans
Gray Zone Warfare is an upcoming tactical FPS game featuring a vast open world and PvP and PvEvP modes. It launches into early access today and looks like an Escape From Tarkov killer.
Gray Zone Warfare is launching into early access today (April 30), and after the week Escape From Tarkov has had, it could pull in a lot of Battlestate’s players. Gray Zone Warfare has a brighter aesthetic, opting for private military company infested jungles as opposed to Soviet urban landscapes.
It fits into the same niche as Tarkov, despite the differing looks, though. Both offer realistic military combat with tactical FPS gameplay and a very short time-to-kill. Both also feature gameplay where players will gather gear like clothes, weapons, and healing items as they compete in the open world.
With the short time-to-kill, situational awareness is essential, as players can be dropped by a single bullet before they even realise where it’s been fired from.
With the two games seeming so similar, Gray Zone Warfare might seem doomed to fail, but it couldn’t be launching at a better time. Escape From Tarkov fans are angry that developer Battlestate tried to charge them £215 for an Unheard edition that would come with a PvE co-op mode as well as several features deemed pay-to-win.
Previously, players who bought the £94 Edge of Darkness edition were promised access to all of the game’s future DLC, so they were justifiably angry that Battlestate seemed to renege on its agreement.
Battlestate is now saying the mode will be available to Edge of Darkness edition players as well, but the sour taste hasn’t left players’ mouths yet, so many could be tempted to try out Gray Zone Warfare as a show of protest.
In other news, Starfield‘s story DLC now has a launch window.
