The 97th Academy Awards, hosted by Conan O’Brien, will take place tonight at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood.
The Indiana Jones actor was set to join a slate of presenters throughout the evening, including Halle Berry, Whoopi Goldberg, Scarlett Johansson, Cillian Murphy, Samuel L. Jackson, Miley Cyrus and many more.
However, Variety reported that Ford’s reps said his last minute exit was due to a bout of shingles, with Ford said to have received the non-life threatening diagnosis Friday (February 28).
Penélope Cruz, Amy Poehler, Bowen Yang, Emma Stone, Robert Downey Jr. and Dave Bautista are among other presenters still set to feature at the event, which will air live on ITV and ITVX, with the ceremony set to begin at 12am.

Frontrunners this year are Emilia Pérez with 13 nominations, followed by The Brutalist and Wicked with ten nods each, and Conclave and Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown with eight. All five of those films are up for Best Picture, alongside Anora, Dune: Part Two, I’m Still Here, Nickel Boys and The Substance.

Beyond toasting the nominees, this year’s ceremony will see performances from Doja Cat, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Lisa from BLACKPINK, Queen Latifah and RAYE. There will also be an appearance from the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
The biggest performance of the night will likely be from Grande and Erivo, who are set to perform tracks from Wicked. None of the songs from Wicked are nominated for Best Original Song, as they were pulled from the musical, but the film’s score by John Powell and Stephen Schwartz is up for Best Original Score.
Meanwhile, Ford will next be seen in Marvel film Captain America: Brave New World, where he will take on the role of President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross and Red Hulk. Director Julius Onah recently came out in support of Ford, denying claims the actor was a “diva” on set.
Elsewhere, the star recently reflected on the box office failure of 2023’s Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny, admitting “shit happens”.
“I was really the one who felt there was another story to tell,” Ford told The Wall Street Journal. “When (Jones) had suffered the consequences of the life that he had to live, I wanted one more chance to pick him up and shake the dust off his ass and stick him out there, bereft of some of his vigour, to see what happened”.
