Heartworms drops powerful new single ‘Jacked’ and announce intimate UK shows

Heartworms has shared her blistering new single ‘Jacked’ and announced three intimate UK shows.

The new track is the first release from the London artist since 2023’s ‘May I Comply‘ taken from acclaimed debut EP ‘A Comforting Notion‘. Heartworms, real name Jojo Orme, has once again reunited with regular collaborator Gilbert Trejo, who also directed the videos for ’24 Hours’ and ‘May I Comply’.

Discussing her vision for ‘Jacked’, Orme said the song touches on “a darkness or entity which you are running away from… but it is really you that holds it.”

Director Trejo said because of that, it was crucial to feature Orme “alone in the world” in the video to match the song’s apocalyptic tone.

“To me,” he said, “‘Jacked’ is the soundtrack to a paranoid fever dream,” with his visuals reinforcing the “feeling of loneliness and the unknown” with Orme sprinting away from a mysterious figure.

“There’s a movement and energy to the song that Jojo and I knew we needed to convey when we were writing the video,” he added. “We wanted her in flight, but she had to be alone in the world, so I went through and scratched everyone else’s face off of the film emulsion with a safety pin.”

In a glowing live review of Orme’s headline show at London’s Village Underground last year, NME declared “2024 will belong to Heartworms”, while debut EP ‘Comforting Notion’ was hailed as “urgent and important, brimming with all the promise of the next great cult act”.

‘Jacked’ has been teased as the first glimpse of a bigger upcoming project set to arrive later this year.
