‘Helldivers 2’ announces “biggest update yet” is coming next month
Arrowhead Games has confirmed that a massive update is coming to Helldivers 2 early next month.
Escalation Of Freedom is the “biggest update yet” to be released for Helldivers 2, after the game launched in February this year.
“From missions and objectives to enemies and planets, we’re delivering lots of new content for both our veteran players and brand-new Helldivers on the battlefield,” said a blog post from Sony.
Escalation Of Freedom will increase the current combat rating from nine to 10. “CR 10: Super Helldive is our most challenging, most relentless dive difficulty level yet, and we hope that this is going to give players the intensity they’re looking for on the battlefield. And with a great challenge comes greater rewards,” continued the post, with new mission objectives, bigger enemies and brand new super sample rewards also coming to the game.

The new Helldivers 2 update will also see the return of The Impaler from the original game, while a Spore variant of The Charger and the Terminid Alpha version of the Brood Commander will also be added.
Alongside changes to the team kick function, Arrowhead has promised a number of other Quality Of Life upgrades and “major fixes” for Helldivers 2 as part of the Escalation Of Freedom update. “Overall, we think this escalation is going to be packed full of awesome additions, long-awaited improvements, and a ton of surprises to discover,” continued the post.
Helldivers 2’s Escalation Of Freedom update is due for release August 6.
In May, it was confirmed Helldivers 2 had shifted over 12million copies of the game. In a four-star review, NME wrote: “Helldivers 2 is an incredibly fun, wildly unpredictable game that will make you laugh, cry, and yell out in frustration.”
In other news, Against The Current‘s Chrissy Costanza has shared a new song for Final Fantasy 14’s new Arcadion raid series. ‘Give It All’ was created alongside legendary video game composer Masayoshi Soken and comes days after Costanza shared her first solo single, ‘7 Minutes In Hell’.
