Here’s how Taylor Swift reacted to Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s engagement
Many famous faces have congratulated Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco on their engagement, with Taylor Swift among them.

After Gomez announced her engagement to producer and songwriter Blanco on Instagram last night (December 11), her close friend Swift was one of the first to send well-wishes.
On the post, which featured a couple of close-ups of Gomez’s hand sporting an engagement ring as well as a photo of Blanco kissing Gomez, Swift joked, “Yes I will be the flower girl.”
Blanco also commented on his new fiancée’s post, writing, “Hey wait… that’s my wife,” while famous pals including Lil Nas X, Cardi B, Jennifer Aniston, Suki Waterhouse, Lily Collins and Gwyneth Paltrow all sent their congratulations too.
Gomez and Blanco’s engagement comes after a year and a half of dating – they began dating in June 2023. Gomez then confirmed their relationship that December, telling fans that Blanco is her “absolute everything in my heart.” They’d known each other for a number of years before becoming a couple, however, with Blanco producing her 2015 single ‘Same Old Love’.
Meanwhile, Gomez and Swift have been friends since they dated brothers Nick and Joe Jonas respectively in 2008. Gomez told Kiss FM in 2017 (via People), “We actually dated the Jonas Brothers together! It was hysterical. It was amazing, because [Taylor] was the girl with the big curly hair and all the bracelets and the cowboy boots. And I was definitely up-and-coming, and we just clicked. It was the best thing we got out of those relationships.”
Recently, Gomez has been discussing her acting career, focusing on it over her music. The multi-hyphenate, who turned 32 in July, told NME’s Alex Flood last month that it’s “really nice” to have been focusing on acting, while the Emilia Perez star then told Saoirse Ronan for Variety’s Actors on Actors that she feels she might be “a little too old for the pop star life.”
She referenced her relationship with Blanco, explaining, “I’ll always have music in my life because my partner’s a musician, and I love having moments to do it for fun. It can be a little vulnerable when you’re putting yourself out there versus escaping into a character.
“One thing I’m proud of in music is being able to tell a story — my favourite songs are mostly ballads, and they’re very transparent and honest. But I think I might be a little too old for the pop-star life. I’m genuinely so happy to just be in this new era of my life, because in a lot of ways, it’s just the beginning.”
