Here’s how the ‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6’ release will work on Xbox Game Pass
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 is making history as the first game in the series to launch onto Xbox Game Pass as a day one release. The move comes after Microsoft‘s acquisition of Activision was finalised at the end of last year. The release of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 isn’t as simple as you may expect though, with certain modes of the game only available for those with higher subscription tiers.
So, to save you the hassle of working it out for yourself, we have broken down which tier of the service you will need to get the modes you are looking for.
‘Call of Duty Black Ops 6’ Game Pass release explained
If you want every mode in Black Ops 6 (Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies), you need to subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or Xbox Game Pass PC. Subscribers to Xbox Game Pass Console will only have access to the campaign and offline multiplayer and zombies unless they also purchase Xbox Game Pass Core separately to gain access to online multiplayer. Alternatively, console subscribers can just upgrade to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to get online multiplayer access.
This is because Xbox Live Gold has now been replaced by Xbox Game Pass Core, which is the basic tier of Microsoft’s subscription service. It offers online multiplayer, as well as a basic selection of games. Therefore, you can’t just buy online multiplayer access on its own anymore.
This is definitely frustrating and will cause a hassle for some players who go in not knowing the differences between the tiers. Xbox Game Pass Core costs £6.99/$9.99 a month or £17.99/$19.99 for three months, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate costs £12.99/£16.99 a month, with the console and PC tiers sitting in between those prices.
Overall, it works out cheaper to upgrade to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate than to buy Xbox Game Pass Core and Xbox Game Pass console or PC each month.
If you want some of the extra benefits and bonuses in the higher priced editions of the game, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can purchase a separate upgrade from the Microsoft Store for the Vault Edition.
