Marathon has been fully revealed, and it looks to be an extremely hardcore, survival-based extraction shooter. Therefore, you may be wondering if you can check the game out ahead of launch. Thankfully, you can with a closed alpha that is taking place later in April on April 23, 2025.
Here is a full breakdown of the closed alpha and what you can expect from it.
To sign up to the Marathon closed alpha you need to
- Join the Marathon Discord and use the command /alpha in any of the channels
- Follow the instructions in the private message sent to you in that channel and click on the unique sign-up link
- Complete the survery which asks about your playing habits, history with Bungie games, you age, location, and how much you have played current shooters
Once that is done, you are all signed up. Invites will go out a few days before the alpha begins on April 23, 2025. The Alpha will only focus on North America and Canada, so if you live in other regions, you are out of luck. You can still sign up and lie about your region, but matchmaking might be slower or more inconsistent.
Keep in mind that the closed alpha is under strict NDA. You can’t stream it or talk about it. If you have a priority code for the alpha it doesn’t guarantee you access, just increasing selection chances. If you are picked, you will get 2 priority codes for friends which can be used.
Finally, if you choose a PlayStation code, it will be region locked to either North or South America. With the game releasing in September, there should be wider playtests over the Summer.
Marathon is set to release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on September 23, 2025.
