Here’s Why Swifties Are Upset With Dave Grohl

Dave Grohl has been a longtime fan of Taylor Swift, but a recent comment he made hasn’t sat well with Swifties.

The Foo Fighters rocker seemingly took a jab at Swift’s Eras Tour while performing at London Stadium on Saturday (June 22), which happened to take place at the same time as the pop superstar’s nearby show at Wembley Stadium.

“I tell you, man, you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift,” Grohl told the crowd. “So we like to call our tour the ‘Errors Tour.’ We’ve had more than a few eras, and more than a few f—ing errors as well. Just a couple.”

He continued, “That’s because we actually play live. What?! Just saying. You guys like raw, live rock ‘n’ roll music, right? You came to the right f—ing place.”

Many fans were disappointed in Grohl’s comments, as the rock star has praised Swift many times in the past. In 2016, he told a story of the time the 14-time Grammy winner saved him from embarrassment in front of Beatles legend Paul McCartney at a party. He also praised her decision to re-record her entire catalog in a 2021 interview with Rolling Stone.

Additionally, Grohl’s former band Nirvana has a long history of uplifting female artists and the feminist movement, including the Riot Grrrl bands of the 90’s. In 1992, Nirvana refused to play their biggest hit, “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” as well as some other popular tracks during a show in Buenos Aires, Argentina, because the crowd was disrespectful and was throwing things at their female opening act, Calamity Jane.
