Here’s your first look at the ‘Until Dawn’ movie
The first teaser trailer for the big screen adaptation of Until Dawn has been released – check it out below.
Until Dawn was originally released in 2015 for the PlayStation 4 and follows eight young adults trying to survive the harsh terrain of Blackwood Mountain. Who lives through the horror is down to the decisions you make throughout the game.
The surprise hit inspired a spin-off (2016’s Until Dawn: Rush Of Blood) and a prequel (2018’s The Impatient) while spiritual successor The Quarry was released in 2022. A remake of Until Dawn came to PlayStation 5 and PC last October.
A film adaptation of Until Dawn was also announced last year and is due for release this April. Now fans have been given their first glimpse via a 96-second teaser.
“The movie has the same tone and vibe but it expands upon the universe,” explained director Gary F. Sandberg. “One of the creative things the game did is that people make different choices and die in different ways. The movie has this mechanic where things start over and they get to try again. Every time they come back to life, it’s like they are in a new horror genre. To survive, they have to make it until dawn.”
“As a huge fan of the Until Dawn game and how cinematic it was, I thought a lot about how we could continue the story without just giving the audience the same experience they got when they were playing,” added writer Gary Dauberman. However not everyone is excited about the planned changes.
“What about this makes it an Until Dawn adaption exactly,” wrote one fan. “I genuinely like this concept but what a slap in the face to fans of the game to completely nerf the premise of the story and throw Until Dawn on the title,” said another.

The movie follows a group of friends investigating a mysterious disappearance. “Exploring an abandoned visitor centre, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and horrifically murdered one by one…only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening,” reads the official logline.
“Trapped in the valley, they’re forced to relive the nightmare again and again – only each time the killer threat is different, each more terrifying than the last. Hope dwindling, the group soon realises they have a limited number of deaths left, and the only way to escape is to survive until dawn.”
It stars Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, and Odessa A’zion. Peter Stormare featured in the original game but will be taking on a new role for this adaptation. “I’m very proud to be part of this evolution,” he said.
In other news, a new trailer for The Witcher: Sirens Of The Deep has dropped ahead of its February 11 launch on Netflix. The animated series sees original Geralt voice actor Doug Cockle returning to the role after the departure of Henry Cavill.
