Announced earlier this month, the PS5 Pro will feature a range of new tech to improve its graphic capabilities. When it was announced, Sony confirmed it had been working with a number of studios to “take advantage” of the “most advanced and innovative console hardware to date”.
Thirteen titles have been confirmed to receive a PS5 Pro update so far, including Horizon Forbidden West, Alan Wake 2 and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
While the £700 price tag of the PS5 Pro has annoyed some fans, especially when the digital-only console doesn’t even come with a stand, others are excited about the improvements to ray-tracing and frame-rates.
Sony’s teaser trailer didn’t really showcase the capabilities of the PS5 Pro, but a number of comparison clips between the standard version of Hogwarts Legacy and the new, upgraded version have been shared across social media and fans are impressed.

The updated version of Hogwarts Legacy will go live November 7, the same day the PS5 Pro launches. It’s not yet known if the update will impact other versions of the game.
The official PS5 Pro blog teased that “more” titles would be added to the current list of thirteen games, while PlayStation’s lead system architect Mark Cerny told CNET that “about 40 or 50 or games” will get PS5 Pro upgrade patches in time for launch.
Meanwhile, Avalanche Software recently advertised a number of job roles that seemingly confirm a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy is in the works. In early 2024 Warner Bros. Interactive president David Haddad teased that a “series of other things” were in the pipeline for the Harry Potter franchise. However, it was also confirmed no expansions were being planned for Hogwarts Legacy despite the popularity of the game.
The success of Hogwarts Legacy comes after a number of fans boycotted the game due to the involvement of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, who’s shared a number of transphobic rants on social media in recent years.
In other news, the makers of Cards Against Humanity have filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk’s SpaceX over alleged trespassing and destruction of property.
