Ian Claps Back at Tyler, The Creator in ‘Lyrical Lemonade’ Freestyle: ‘Never Sat Down Trying to Mock Future’
Ian has seemingly responded to Tyler, The Creator after the Grammy-winning rapper subliminally dissed him during an interview with Maverick Carter last year.
Ian pulled up to the Lyrical Lemonade studios on Monday to deliver his fiery “Lunch Break Freestyle,” which saw him reference his love for Odd Future while growing up and address some of Tyler’s claims on wax.
“Back then, I really loved Odd Future/ I ain’t never sat down tryna mock Future/ I ain’t wanna show no disrespect, so I kept my mouth shut and that’s not human/ Damn, would’ve been a dumba– thing to do,” he raps shortly after the 1:30 mark.
During the interview, Tyler seemingly referred to Ian as this “white kid” and “regular caucasian man” that was “mocking Future and Gucci Mane [and] rap music.”
“People are like, ‘This sh– hard.’ It’s not even like satire,” he said. “I hold rap music so close to my heart because this sh– changed my life… This is like weird and I’m looking at it like something about it don’t sit well with me… In comparison to someone like a Mac Miller or an Eminem, who it didn’t seem like they were mocking it.”
Tyler doubled down on his sentiments on his Chromakopia track “Thought I Was Dead.” “White boys mocking this sh– and y’all mad at me/ Y’all can suck my d–k,” he raps.
Despite the criticism, Ian continued his ascension in 2024 with the release of his Goodbye Horses album via BuVision and Columbia Records in October. The project featured assists from Chief Keef and Lil Yachty and debuted at No. 86 on the Billboard 200.
