Speaking to Screen Rant, Elba was asked about if he would be interested in reprising his role as Soloman Reed from the Phantom Liberty DLC. He replied, ”
Oh, man, that’s a great question. I think if any film could do a live-action rendition, it could be [Cyberpunk 2077], and I think his character and my character together would be, ‘Whoa.’ So, let’s speak that into existence.”
Elba portrays the main character of the Phantom Liberty DLC, Solomon Reed. He’s a sleeper agent who needs to be activated at the start of the DLC to kick off the quest of political intrigue and betrayal.
While there are currently no public plans to make a Cyberpunk 2077 movie, a live-action TV adaptation was announced back in 2023. Developer CD Projekt Red has partnered with Anonymous Content to make a live-action show set within the world of the game. The company has previously worked on True Detective and Mr Robot.
Cyberpunk 2077 already has an anime adaptation, the well-recieved Edgerunners, which luanched in 2022 and was so beloved it led to many copies of the game being sold. Enough to push CD Projekt Red to “the best third quarter in our entire history,” as reported by PC Gamer.
47 developers at CD Projekt Red were working on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 as of March this year. The rest of the team is focused on The Witcher 4, which got a trailer at The Game Awards last week.
The game will see Ciri star as the protagonist after undergoing mutagenic transformations to become a witcher herself.
In other news, Elon Musk denied cheating in Path Of Exile 2 despite being disconnected for clicking too fast.
