Internet sensation and Machine Gun Kelly guitarist Sophie Lloyd announces first solo headline show in London
Internet sensation and Machine Gun Kelly’s live guitarist Sophie Lloyd has announced her first solo headline show. Find all the details below.
The musician released her first studio album, ‘Imposter Syndrome’, last November via Autumn Records.
She began playing in Machine Gun Kelly’s live band for his huge ‘Mainstream Sellout’ world tour in 2022. Speaking to NME that year, Lloyd called the experience “amazing” and said it was “such a journey”.
Today (June 4), the guitarist has confirmed that her “first official live show” as a soloist will take place at the Camden Assembly venue in north London on Thursday October 17.
Tickets go on general sale at 10am BST this Friday (June 7) – you’ll be able to buy yours here.
“As this is my first show, I wanted to have something quite intimate so it’s quite limited, so don’t miss out!” Lloyd wrote in the caption. “You can get early access to tickets by being a Patreon.”
She added: “There will be VIP package options available, with the opportunity to hang out before and after the show, with exclusive photos and much more!”
In an accompanying video, Lloyd said: “I have gathered you all here today to announce that I am finally doing my very first official live show. I know – finally! It’s been long enough.
“You guys know that I released my debut album ‘Imposter Syndrome’ last November, and we are so excited to finally be bringing that to the stage.”
Machine Gun Kelly responded to the announcement video, writing in the comments section: “Hellllll yeaaaa. cover one of our songs one time for your mates.”
Lloyd previously told NME that playing stadium concerts with MGK had changed her ambitions as a solo performer.
“I always said I never wanted to be a touring musician because I’m such a homebird,” she explained. “But seeing people have those experiences to music that you’re playing, rather than just seeing numbers on a screen, that’s absolutely amazing.”
She continued: “I definitely want to tour my album next year now. I’m excited to get out there in the real world a bit more, and not just be on a screen. I want to inspire more people to pick up the guitar, especially women. I want to show people that rock music is fucking amazing.”
Lloyd had previously made a name for herself on YouTube by covering a series of rock and pop classics. She currently has 1.15million subscribers on the video platform.
The musician released an instrumental EP called ‘Delusions’ in 2018.
