Jamie Foxx jokes about leaving Diddy’s parties early: “Something don’t look right”
Jamie Foxx made a joke at Diddy’s expense about leaving his parties “early” in his new Netflix special.
The Oscar winner released his stand-up show What Had Happened Was… on Netflix this week (December 10), in which he discussed his mysterious 2023 health emergency for the first time.
He also took a sly shot at Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs during the show, referencing the infamous parties the former rap mogul would host for high-profile entertainment figures.
Speaking about the rumours around his health, Foxx said: “The internet was trying to kill me, though. The internet said Puffy tried to kill me. I know what you’re thinking, did he?”
“Hell no!” he continued. “I left those parties early, I was out by 9pm. Because something don’t look right, it’s slippery in here.”
Foxx appears to be referencing the fact that during police raids of Diddy’s home in March, authorities recovered items including AR-15s, narcotics and “more than 1000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant”.
Combs has pleaded not guilty to an indictment that saw him charged with racketeering and sex trafficking, and his trial in the federal criminal case is set to begin on May 5 next year.
He has been held in a federal jail in Brooklyn since his arrest on September 16, with his legal team recently requesting access to a laptop in his detention centre to “assist in his defence”.
He has also been denied bail on multiple occasions, and was subsequently reportedly placed on suicide watch. Among the reasons given for the denial of bail was prosecutors claiming that Combs had attempted to misuse jail resources to influence witnesses in his case and coerce at least eight other inmates to use their phones.
Another wave of sexual misconduct lawsuits were filed against him by five more anonymous accusers last month. Three men and two women claim they were drugged and sexually assaulted by the rapper in incidents in New York and Miami dating back to 2001.
Those allegations follow an accusation in late October of Diddy allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy in 2005. Before that, it was reported that over 120 people had come forward with new allegations – including 25 minors.
Diddy has – through representatives – denied all allegations against him to date. Should he be found guilty, he could face 15 years to life in prison.
Foxx, meanwhile, revealed in the special his unspecified medical emergency was actually a bleed on the brain that led to a stroke. He was told that if doctors did not operate on him as soon as possible, he would die.
Foxx said it “was kind of oddly peaceful” being unconscious, adding: “I saw the tunnel. I didn’t see the light.” He then joked: “It was hot in that tunnel. Shit, am I going to the wrong place in this motherfucker? Because I looked at the end of the tunnel, and I thought I saw the Devil like, ‘C’mon.’ Or is that Puffy [Sean Combs]?”
After the procedure, he explained that the doctor told his sister Deidra Dixon that he “may be able to make a full recovery, but it’s going to be the worst year of his life”. Foxx added: “That’s what it was.”
He continued: “I lost everything, but the only thing I could hold onto was my sense of humour. If I could stay funny, I could stay alive.”
