Jamie xx announces 10-night London club residency ‘The Floor’
Jamie xx has announced a 10-night residency at London’s Venue MOT called ‘The Floor’ – check out all details below.
The xx producer and DJ has shared details of his upcoming dates, which will see him transform Deptford’s Venue MOT into a bespoke space called ‘The Floor’. It follows his recent Honey Dijon collaboration, ‘Baddy On The Floor‘.
From 16-25 May, Jamie xx will DJ all ten nights and curate a lineup specific to every night, only unveiling his guests until that day.
Speaking about the residency, Jamie said: “For years I’ve been dreaming of opening my own club in London, a place that represents my experiences in the best of London’s underground club scene; the intimacy, the community, the curation, the sound… this month, I get to make that dream a reality.
“It’s called The Floor and will be at Venue MOT, London. I’ve teamed up with them to create a totally new space and I’ve invited loads of friends and collaborators to join me on the line up every night. See you on the floor.”
Tickets for all ten events will go on sale tomorrow (May 2) at 10am BST – get them here.
Jamie xx recently revealed on BBC Radio 1 that he’s putting the “finishing touches” on his long-awaited second album. It will be the follow-up to his critically acclaimed solo debut ‘In Colour‘, which was released in 2015.
Since then, Jamie released his new track ‘It’s So Good‘ at the start of this year. He also recently teamed up with The xx bandmate Romy for her critically acclaimed album ‘Mid Air’, along with fellow xx bandmate Oliver Sim‘s solo record ‘Hideous Bastard‘.
The DJ is also set to perform at this year’s edition of Glastonbury Festival on June 28, along with Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago on July 20 and the HARD Summer Music Festival in Inglewood, California on August 3. Find tickets to all upcoming shows here.
Romy recently spoke about the plans for new xx material during an interview with NME at the BRIT Awards 2024.
“[The xx have] been in the studio since I last spoke to NME and we’re in the studio again next week, so we’re meeting up regularly,” she explained. “It’s been really good. I think we’ve all spent time apart and it’s healthy to miss each other.”
Romy added: “We’re just keeping it really open and we’re up for trying new things, but it sounds like us. That’s all I can say right now.
“We’ve learned a lot from our different solo projects and it’s cool to learn from each other again. We grew up together and we had a lot of experiences, but to then have time apart and learn new skills, get new musical ideas and experiences and compare them… it’s been a healthy break.”
