Jason Momoa accused of “yelling” at ‘Minecraft’ crew by YouTuber who has cameo in film
On a recent streaming show, streamer Valkyrae claimed that actor Jason Momoa “mistreated some of the crew” during the filming of the Minecraft movie.
Appearing on JasonTheWeen’s streaming show, Valkyrae, real name Rachell Marie Hofstetter, was asked for her “worst celebrity or streamer experience? Who’s a asshole? Who’s a fucking asshole?”
Hofstetter replied, “Minecraft movie, I have a cameo. I would have to say Jason Mamoa. I just saw him mistreat some of the crew. It was pretty disappointing.” She clarifies, “It was after a very intense scene, and it was a very emotional scene, so maybe he was still in character, I don’t know. I just was surprised by how he treated some of the crew.”
When pressed on what she saw exactly, Hofstetter claimed, “he was really mad at them that they weren’t doing something right. It was, like, setting up the shot and stuff. He was just angry, really mad, and yelling. I was like, ‘man, this is not a good work environment. I would not be happy working under these conditions.’ So yeah I would probably have to say that was probably the worst celebrity thing I’ve seen.”
NME has reached out to Jason Momoa’s agent for comment.
Momoa was allegedly drunk on the set of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, with legal notes alleging he turned up dressed as Amber Heard‘s ex-husband Johnny Depp, “Has all the rings too,” and “said he wanted [Heard] fired.” A DC spokesperson said “Jason Momoa conducted himself in a professional manner at all times on the set of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.”
The Minecraft movie is due to release April 4, 2025. A recent trailer garnered some harsh remarks from fans.
In other news, the latest soundtrack for the upcoming EA Sports FC 25 game has divided fans, with some angry there aren’t more indie artists on it and others happy to see artists and genres they love.
