Jessica Simpson: “I’m just a great singer when I have snake sperm”

Jessica Simpson has revealed that a tonic containing snake sperm has helped her get her singing voice back in shape.

The artist made her return to the music industry earlier this year, and recently shared a video from inside her music studio. In the footage, she showed off a tonic she credits with helping make her into a better singer.

Shared on Instagram last week, Simpson was seen drinking a dark liquid from a bottle with a yellow label as she geared up to share her new EP, ‘Nashville Canyon’. She explained that while she didn’t know the ingredients, she was recommended the drink by her vocal coach. However, upon looking up the “Chinese herb thing” online, she discovered that one of the ingredients was snake sperm.

“If you want a good vocal, you got to drink snake sperm,” she said while laughing at the discovery. She also explained that the drink had a similar flavour to honey.

Now, it seems the singer has doubled down on the comments and reaffirmed that she believes it makes her a “great singer”.

It took place as a paparazzo approached Simpson in an airport recently, and asked if she would continue drinking the beverage now that she was aware of the unusual list of ingredients. At first, she seemed to think the paparazzo was talking about Red Bull, but as she then realised he was referring to the tonic, she replied (via TMZ): Oh, of course! Are you kidding me?”

“I mean, it just really clears my throat,” she added. “I’m just a great singer when I have snake sperm.”

When asked whether she would consider becoming a spokesperson for the tonic, she quipped: “I can’t even read the bottles. So, I don’t know how good I would be on some infomercial…Maybe I’ll make my own. I should do that!”

‘Nashville Canyon’ was shared at the end of last month and according to a report from US Weekly, the singer said that the EP is “the result of learning to hear my heart again, free from industry expectations.”

“It’s about surrendering, letting my voice be my main guide, and trusting the journey ahead,” she said. “Always inviting God into the room where music creates itself, with a voice that communicates on a spiritual level of grace without fear and allowing the music to be my main voice.”
