Josh Brolin’s dad once made family eat his pet pig: “What a fucking dick”
Josh Brolin has spoken about how his father once told him that he was eating his pet pig at a family dinner.
The Dune actor told the bizarre story in a new interview on Graham Bensinger’s In Depth
podcast after his father James had previously opened up about the incident.
“Did he tell you the pig story? What a fucking dick,” Brolin said before adding: “So this story of me raising pigs, this is a horrible story. Oink and Snort, those were their names. I helped raise these pigs, and then we’re eating dinner one night – it’s amazing to me that he would tell you that story. It makes him look so bad.
The actor then described his dad saying: “‘Guess what you’re eating.’ I said, ‘What?’ He said, ‘Either Oink or Snort.’ I said, ‘What?’. He went, ‘Yeah, that’s what we’re eating. That’s who we slaughtered.’ I was like, ‘Why would you tell a kid that?’ It makes no sense. Why
would you tell your kid that, with any semblance of, like, celebration? Or was he just
looking to have an impact?”
He continued: “When you feel like you don’t have an impact, that’s when you start to look for any impact, whether it’s a negative impact or not. I think I can break it down to it being that, because I can’t imagine saying that to my kid. It’s nowhere in my universe to say that to a kid. Why would you?”
Elsewhere, Brolin recently revealed that he almost came to blows with Denzel Washington on the set of American Gangster.
He also revealed in his new memoir From Under The Truck, how John Travolta once healed Marlon Brando’s injured leg using a Scientology exercise at one of his mother-in-law, Barbra Streisand‘s star-studded dinner parties.
Brolin’s memoir, which is out now, documents his own breakthrough in The Goonies to adult milestones like roles in No Country For Old Men and Milk. He also shares insights into relationships, addiction, love and fatherhood.
